Breyer Golden Palomino Pinto Jumper Stallion Retired The palomino color results from the breeding of a chestnut horse to a horse carrying the dilute cream gene, whereas "pinot" refers to a coat featuring patches of color interspersed with patches of white. The pinto pattern is generally divided into tobiano and overo. Tobiano horses have four white legs, dark hooves, solid-colored heads (with possible white markings), possibly b-colored tails and white crossing the spine between the withers and the tail. Overos display dark legs, a solid-colored tail and large white face markings, but no white patches crossing the spine between withers and tail. Should your pinto sport a lot of white patches on the underbelly, girth and chest areas, you may be looking at a sabino.
